I can't really help you, because I just did what the readme said and it worked. Sure, I couldn't read anything in the setup, you just have to guess the buttons but it worked. By the way, what exactly doesn't work? oô

Same here, the patch doesn't do anything, the executable "install.exe" don't work when i launch it.

Sorry guys, I'd really like to help you, but I really just did what the readme said plus I don't remember now what I did back then... It just worked! Erm... you use daemon tools or another virtual device prog, right? Try it a few more times and follow the readme step by step! I swear it worked and I could install it!!

I found that if you copy all the files to your hard drive it'll work.

would someone please explain something about how i can get this game to work? i really want to play it. it seems like the first anime game that will actually be decent. PLEASE HELP

Maybe this will help.
Here's how you get the game installed/working correctly on your computer.
Before you do ANYTHING, change your language on your computer to Japanese. Don't know how? Here's how: Click "Start" on the lower left hand side of your screen. Click on "Control Panel" Open up "Regional and Language Options"
Hit the "Languages" tab and check the box marked: "Install files for East Asian Languages" Click "yes" to whatever pops up, then hit the "Advanced" tab and select "Japanese" as your language, now before hitting apply go to the "Regional Options" tab and change that language option to Japanese. NOW hit apply. You will have to restart your computer, do it. Don't worry, everything stays in English except websites which isnt that big of a deal since you can still visit the english sites. K. NOW that you are set to Japanese, here's how you correctly install Yuki Hotaru, I followed these instructions and it worked perfectly for me.
*Extract only the RAR files
*Mount [HentaiShare].Yuki.Hotaru.CD1.iso using daemon tools
*Click ok when a box pops up. now explore the cd and right click on "install.exe" and click on properties, click on the compatibility tab, click the very first box and change it to "windows 98/windows me" and click apply. *Now use applocale (Should have gotten this program with the game) to run that "install.exe." On the language list, "japanese" is the VERY LAST one on the list. Click through to start the installation. *When it asks for CD2 mount the CD. you might run into a little trouble here, for me, a white screen came up and blocked and covered everything. I used "ctrl+alt+delete" to bring up the taskmanager and shut down the program called "YukiHota.exe." if you are using windows 98 i dont think you can do that because it will restart you computer.
*Now explorer the mounted CD and change the compatibility of "YukiHota.exe" to windows 98 like we did with "install.exe."
*Now continue with the install. When it is done a screen will pop up. the bottom is exit, middle is graphics option and the top one is to play.
*You have to change the compatibility mode on "YukiHota.exe" in the game directory probably "C:\YuKiHoTa"
*Now always use applocale to run the game.
